Uttarakhand / Haridwar : Congressmen protest against Public Works Department

Congressmen along with local people protested against the Public Works Department over the recent poor quality of road construction in the city and wrong slope of the roads. The workers sat on a dharna in the office premises. After this the officers arrived and surrounded them. During the talks, the LNV officials assured to solve the problem within two days. If the problem was not resolved, the Congressmen warned of a violent agitation. On Monday, people of Aryanagar and Vivek Vihar along with Mayor representative Ashok Sharma gathered from many areas and reached the Public Works Department office in Mayapur. Local people along with Congress workers started protesting by raising slogans. After this, sat on a dharna in the premises itself. The Superintending Engineer, who reached the information, called him inside for talks. Ashok Sharma said that due to the performance of the officials of the Public Works Department, people are now facing problems as soon as it rains. Lonvi has closed the drains by constructing a road in Pir Wali Gali located at Aryanagar Chowk. Due to which there is no drainage as soon as it rains, people’s houses are getting flooded. Behind Geeta Vigyan situated at Vishnu Garden, Kankhal Ravidas Basti Road and road slope in Krishnanagar has been made wrong. Due to which there is a problem of water logging due to light rain. Scheduled Department District President Sunil Kumar and Navez Ansari said that the recently constructed roads at many places in Jwalapur have started deteriorating as soon as it rains. If the problem of roads is not resolved within two days, then a fierce agitation will be started at the LNV office.
