Rain washed out the first ODI between Ireland and South Africa
The first ODI match between South Africa and Ireland here was inconclusive due to rain. The last two ODIs of the three-match series will be played in Dublin on 13th and 16th.
South Africa won the toss and invited hosts Ireland to bat, but an innings could not be completed due to rain. A game of 40.2 overs was played, in which Ireland scored 195 runs for the loss of four wickets. Veteran opener William Porterfield (63) and captain Andrew Balbirnie (65) played brilliant half-centuries.
On the other hand, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took two wickets for 43 runs in 8.2 overs, while Andile Phehlukwayo and Tabrez Shamsi took 1-1 wickets for South Africa. Even before the start of the match, the sky was cloudy, as a result the match was affected due to rain. Rain interrupted play time and again and the match was eventually called off by the match officials after 40.2 overs were played.
