Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to join hands with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to jointly host two ICC World Cups in the upcoming 2024-31 cycle of ICC tournaments. Earlier it was reported that the PCB wants to form a consortium with SLC and BCB to host the 2027 and 2031 World Cups respectively. It is noteworthy that the BCB had also announced in its 10th Board of Directors meeting on 15 June that it would express interest to host the 2025 Champions Trophy only, given that the Board has the necessary infrastructure to host BCB President Nazmul Hassan has confirmed that BCB will be in talks with neighboring countries to co-host some ICC tournaments.
The BCB has decided that it will participate in the host selection process for the ICC Men’s Events (2024-2031) and to expedite the process, a management team under the chairmanship of BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury has been constituted and in this process The Board of Directors to oversee Jalal Yunus and Ahmed Sajjadul Alam.
When asked about the PCB’s proposal, Jalal Younis did not rule out the possibility of joining hands with the Asian neighbours, as India is able to host ICC tournaments independently. So the only chance they have is to tie up with the other two boards. “We have already stated that we want to host the ICC Champions Trophy, while we are ready to co-host other tournaments with our neighbours,” Jalal said in a statement. India is likely to bid to host tournaments solely because it is capable, because it has the infrastructure and in that case if we have to co-host then we have to do it with PCB and SLC.
