Golfer Anirban Lahiri thrilled to represent India in Olympics

India’s leading golfer Anirban Lahiri is thrilled to represent the country at the Tokyo Olympics. Lahiri has now reached Tokyo after playing a golf tournament in America. He left the US on Friday and reached Narita airport on Saturday. Lahiri described his arrival as a pleasant feeling.
Lahiri said, “I am really excited. It is exciting to play under the tricolor. Representing India has always been a special thing. Whatever opportunity I get, I am going to grab it with both hands.
On how doing well in Olympics means to him, Lahiri said, “Doing well in Olympics will mean everything.” I think it will change the way golf is viewed in India. I think it will change the support we get from corporates and government. I think it will motivate kids to take up golf more and more. For me it would be like winning a major event.
Lahiri further said, I think more people in India will watch Olympic events than regular PGA Tour events. This is a great opportunity for me to give back to the sport and bring some pride to the country.
Udayan Mane will join Lahiri as the Indian team for men’s golf in Tokyo, while Aditi Ashok is the lone Indian representative in women’s golf.
The men’s golf event will be held at Kasumigaseki Country Club from July 28-31, while the four-day women’s event will begin on August 3.
