Second ODI match between West Indies and Australia postponed after corona infection case

The second ODI between hosts West Indies and Australia to be held here on Thursday has been postponed after a case of corona infection was confirmed minutes before the first ball of the match.
On this, Cricket West Indies said in a statement, the second ODI between West Indies and Australia has been postponed due to a non-playing member of the West Indies team being found corona infected. The decision was taken after the toss at Kensington Oval after the Corona Test Report result was known due to the Corona Protocol. All the members and match officials of both the teams will be again tested for corona today. A decision on the re-organisation of the match will be taken after the results of all reports are confirmed. Till then all the players will stay in their hotel rooms.
It is noteworthy that Australia had won the toss and opted to bat, but after the toss, both the teams were informed about the infection case. Riley Meredith, who replaced Wes Agar in the team and made his ODI debut, will now have to wait for his chance.
It remains to be seen how Australia’s next few matches will be affected, given the number of infections. After the last ODI on July 24, the Australian team will leave for Bangladesh for the five-match T20I series starting on August 3.
