Italy has promised to reopen embassy in Afghanistan: Taliban

The Taliban say Italy has promised to reopen its embassy in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Mohammad Naeem, a spokesman for the Taliban’s political office, said this. Today, the Political Office of Afghanistan held a meeting with the representative of the Prime Minister of Italy (Mario Draghi), he tweeted. Italy has promised to reopen its embassy in Afghanistan.

Italy, along with many other countries in the world, launched a campaign to evacuate its diplomatic staff, civilians and aides from the Asian country and closed its embassy after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan by mid-August. Some countries, such as Japan and the Netherlands, moved their embassies from Afghanistan to Qatar’s capital, Doha.
