Cyclonic storm ‘Shaheen’ centered on Arabian Sea
Severe cyclonic storm Shaheen centered over Northwest Arabian Sea at 2.30 pm on Saturday. Now it is likely to cross the Oman coast. In such a situation, now there is a possibility of withdrawal of southwest monsoon in Rajasthan and its adjoining area by next week. On the other hand, there is a possibility of rain in Northwest India.
According to the Meteorological Department, severe cyclonic storm Shaheen is very likely to cross the Oman coast during the early hours of October 4, 2021. The maximum speed of this cyclonic storm is 80-90 kmph to 100 kmph.

After the Severe Cyclonic Storm Shaheen crosses the Oman coast, the southwesterly moist winds will weaken over Rajasthan and the southwest monsoon is likely to return by next week. Westerly and north-westerly winds over northwest India and development of a low level anti-cyclonic circulation over this region will start from October 5. Under its influence, there may be heavy rain in the north-western parts of India. In such a situation, the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon in these parts can be started from 6th October.
