BAN vs PAK : First Test, Bangladesh were reduced to 330 runs in the first innings, Pakistan’s solid start
After thrashing the hosts 0-3 in the T20I series, Pakistan added 145 runs without losing any wickets after bowling Bangladesh out for 330 on the second day of the first Test in Chattogram. Opener Abid Ali (93*) and debutant Abdullah Shafiq (52*) batted well in the second and third sessions on a batting-friendly pitch, leaving Pakistan behind Bangladesh by 185 runs.
Abid also completed 1000 runs in his 15th Test and is playing 93 runs till the stumps. With this he is close to his fourth century. Shafiq also completed his half-century and he is playing an unbeaten 52 runs. Bangladesh team bowled 57 overs before the end of the day’s play, for which they used their 5 bowlers but none of their bowlers could give any success to the team.
Earlier in the morning, Bangladesh started playing ahead of 253 runs for four wickets. But Ali took four wickets on the second day, due to which Bangladesh could add only 77 runs for the loss of the remaining six wickets.
Ali took the five-wicket haul for the sixth time, in which he was supported by new-ball partner Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took two for 70, and medium pacer Faheem Ashraf, who took two for 54.
Liton Das was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 114 runs, scoring his maiden century. Mushfiqur Rahim added 91 runs while Mehdi Hasan remained unbeaten on 38.
