Rain shadows India-Sri Lanka Twenty20 matches in Dharamsala!

The threat of rain has loomed large over the India Sri Lanka Twenty20 matches to be held at the Dharamsala Cricket Stadium in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. According to the Shimla Center of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in Himachal on 26 and 27 February. Therefore, now the two Twenty20 matches to be held in Dharamsala can be washed away.

According to the information, the HPCA has started preparations for the match. But this is disappointing news for cricket lovers. The important thing is that the last match that took place in Dharamsala was also washed away due to rain. On 12 March 2020, this match could not be held due to rain.

Worship of the rain god

On Saturday, 12 February, the officials of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association went to the Indrunag temple and offered prayers and prayed for clear weather ahead of the T20 matches between India and Sri Lanka on February 26 and February 27. Please tell that there is a temple of Indrunag near Dharamsala and it is considered to be the god of rain. Whenever matches are held in Dharamsala, the first puja is performed in the Indrunag temple.

The first international one-day match was played between India and England team on 27 January 2013 at Dharamsala Stadium. After that on 20 October 2015, there was a match between India and South Africa. At the same time, on 18 March 2016, the T20 World Cup match was played between New Zealand and Australia. In the year 2019 and 2020 also, two matches between India and South Africa were washed out in the rain. The India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match to be held in Dharamsala in the year 2016 was cancelled. Now the local businessmen are very happy with the competition here.

Preparations have started

Apart from the HPAC for the Dharamsala matches, the local administration and police have also started preparations. One thousand police personnel have been deployed here. Along with this, surveillance is also being done through drones. Let us tell you that 50 percent of the spectators have been allowed entry during the match.
