Indian student killed in Russian bombing in Ukraine, MEA confirms

Russia Ukraine Crisis: An Indian student has lost his life in war-torn Ukraine. An Indian student has died in a bombing in Ukraine. This has been confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Naveen Shekharappa, an Indian student from Haveri, Karnataka, died when Russian soldiers blew up a government building on Tuesday. Pooja Prahraj, a final year medical student in PG course, said, “He just went out to get food… We arrange food for the other children living in the hostel, but he lives in a flat behind the governor’s residence. I used to stay in… He was standing in line for more than an hour, then there was an air raid, in which the Governor House was blown up and he was also killed…” Pooja said, dialed the phone of the student who was killed. On leaving, a Ukrainian woman replied. He said, “Those who have this phone are being taken to Morg (morgue) at this time…” Naveen’s partner Sreedharan Gopalakrishnan said, ‘Naveen died at 10.30 am Ukrainian time. He was standing in line outside the grocery shop when he was killed in the firing by the Russian army on the people. We do not have any information about his dead body. None of us are in a position to go to the hospital where it might have been kept.
