Two tribals were lynched on suspicion of cow slaughter in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, former CM Kamal Nath demanded investigation

A sensational case of mob lynching has come to light from Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the report, three tribals were beaten up with sticks on suspicion of cow slaughter in Badal Par Chowki area under Kurai police station of Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. Due to this two died. A young man is seriously injured there. According to a report by news agency PTI, the complainant in the case and the opposition Congress in the BJP-ruled state have accused the attackers of being Bajrang Dal. According to officials, a case has been registered against more than 20 people in connection with the incident. He told that the incident happened on Monday.
Soon after the incident was reported, a group led by Congress MLA Arjun Singh Kakodia started a protest on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway. Besides this, the Seoni Superintendent of Police and other officials visited the site of the protest. The news agency PTI quoted Additional Superintendent of Police SK Marawi as saying, “Two tribal men have died. It was alleged that a group of 15-20 people went to the victim’s house, accused them of killing a cow and assaulted them. Two people died on their way to the hospital and another suffered minor injuries. A postmortem is yet to be done.
Maravi told that, ‘A case of murder has been registered at Kurai police station and police teams are searching for the accused. Some of the accused are named (in the complaint) and others are unknown. We have detained 2-3 suspects. About 12 kilograms of meat has been found from the victim’s house.
Brijesh Batti, who was injured in the incident, said in his complaint that when he reached the spot, the mob was hitting Sagar resident Sampat Batti and Simaria resident Dhansa with sticks and he was also beaten up. During the protest, Congress MLA Kakodia claimed that the attackers included members of the Bajrang Dal and demanded a ban on the right-wing outfit. He further said that the families of the victims should be given one crore rupees and government jobs. Meanwhile, Congress has demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident and speedy action against the culprits.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath said on Twitter, ‘I demand from the government that strict action should be taken against the culprits by announcing a high level inquiry into this incident. All possible help should be given to the families of the victims and arrangements should be made for the treatment of the injured person at government expense.

Apart from this, Kamal Nath said that the relatives of the deceased and local residents have claimed that Bajrang Dal was involved in the incident. Kamal Nath also said that the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data shows that Madhya Pradesh is number one among the states in crimes against tribals.
