BJP will get 8 seats in Rajya Sabha, will give a boost to Uttar Pradesh, BSP and Congress

After getting a big victory in the recent assembly elections, BJP is now going to get strength in Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh as well. 11 Rajya Sabha seats are vacant in the state and in the elections to be held on these, it can win 8. The biggest loss in this election is going to be for BSP and Congress, both the parties are not in a position to win even a single seat. A total of 31 members are elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state. Between June and August, 11 Rajya Sabha seats in the state are falling vacant. The leaders whose term is ending in these 11 seats include BJP’s Zafar Islam, Shiv Pratap Shukla, Sanjay Seth, Surendra Nagar and Jaiprakash Nishad.
Apart from this, Samajwadi Party’s Sukhram Singh Yadav, Revathi Raman Singh and Vishambar Prasad Nishad, BSP’s Satish Chandra Mishra and Ashok Siddharth and Congress’s Kapil Sibal are involved. According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission for a total of 57 Rajya Sabha seats in the country, the notification of elections will be issued on May 24 and voting will be held on June 10. Results will also come on the same day. The BJP-led NDA has 273 MLAs in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly, while the SP alliance has a total of 125 members. For a Rajya Sabha member to win, it is necessary to get the support of at least 34 members. Accordingly, BJP is in a position to easily win eight out of 11 seats, while the SP alliance can also easily win three seats.
BSP and Congress will suffer the biggest loss
Congress and BSP will suffer the most in this election. The performance of both these parties in the recently concluded assembly elections was very poor. Congress had got two seats and BSP only one seat, so these two parties are not in a position to win a single member on their own. Significantly, the terms of BSP general secretaries Satish Chandra Mishra and Ashok Siddharth are ending in July. After this, only Ramji Gautam will be left in the Upper House from BSP.
Election on 4 seats in Rajasthan and 2 seats in Punjab
Apart from 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh, elections are also going to be held for 2 seats in Punjab and 4 in Rajasthan. The tenure of Congress Rajya Sabha member Ambika Soni from Punjab and Akali Dal leader and Balwinder Singh Bhundar ends on July 4, 2022. It is worth noting that five Aam Aadmi Party candidates, including former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, have been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in March.
