Uttarakhand : Former CM Trivendra’s plan did not reach ‘destination’, see ‘waste’ of 14 crores
A living example of how money is wasted is being seen in Udham Singh Nagar district. Here the tourism department had developed the Baur reservoir for tourism at a cost of 14 crores. But the project also hangs in the balance as soon as Trivendra Rawat is removed from the post of Chief Minister. Alam is that cottages, restaurants, swimming pools are all lying in a dilapidated condition for the tourists to stay.
Along with the uncountable beauty of the Baur reservoir of Gularbhoj, the calm atmosphere gives comfort to the tourists coming here. There is a different thrill of boating amidst the winds and waves running in the reservoir. Apart from this, the flowering of the park also attracts the tourists. Cottages, restaurants, swimming pools, artificial walls as well as motor boats were purchased for tourists to stay at a cost of 14 crores to develop the Baur reservoir as a tourist destination. Former CM Trivendra Singh did not reach the ‘destination’. Rawat’s plan The previous government had included Baur Reservoir in 13 districts and 13 destinations and along with doing many things here, national kayaking and canoeing competitions were also organized to woo the tourists. But even today, to reach here, tourists have to reach through unpaved roads, there is no arrangement of clean water for the tourists.
The tourism department has not been able to open the doors of the Adventure Center built near the reservoir for the tourists in 5 years. The PAC is located in a building of the center, while the boat operators are living in the cottage. Rest of the buildings are in bad condition and the lights and fountains there are in bad condition. There is dirt in the swimming pool and bushes have grown in the center premises. Tourism officials are talking about operating the center through PPP mode. On this, senior Congress leader and MLA Pritam Singh has raised questions on the intention of the government.
