Inquiries lasted for more than 10 hours

Officials said that after completing the legal formalities, the questioning of Rahul Gandhi was started at 11.30 am. After about four hours of interrogation, Rahul Gandhi came out at around 3.30 pm and reached the ED office again after an hour. The ED had questioned the Congress leader for more than 10 hours on Monday. After this, the ED asked him to appear again on Tuesday.

Congress leaders taken into custody

According to the Congress, on Tuesday, the police detained party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi, MP Deepender Hooda, newly elected Rajya Sabha member Imran Pratapgarhi and several other leaders. Venugopal released a video alleging that the Narendra Modi government is misusing the investigating agencies. Action is being taken against the leaders of Congress under the politics of vendetta. Congress leaders and workers on Monday also held ‘Satyagraha’ and marches outside ED offices in many cities of the country including Delhi, which is also being seen as a show of strength of the party.

Many leaders including P Chidambaram got hurt

The main opposition party had also claimed that several of its leaders, including former Home Minister P Chidambaram, suffered injuries due to the scuffle by the Delhi Police. Interrogation of Gandhi family part of investigation

The ED is recording the statement of Rahul Gandhi under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). In the same case, the ED has asked Congress President Sonia Gandhi to appear on June 23. Sonia Gandhi is unwell due to corona virus infection and is currently admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. According to officials, the questioning of senior Congress leaders and the Gandhi family is part of the ED’s probe to understand the stake pattern, financial transactions and role of promoters of ‘Young Indian’ and ‘Associated Journals Limited’ (AJL). .

ED is interrogating Rahul in this case

The promoters and shareholders of ‘Young Indian’ include Sonia Gandhi and some other members of Congress including Rahul Gandhi. The agency had registered a fresh case under the criminal provisions of the PMLA after a trial court in Delhi took cognizance of the Income Tax Department’s investigation against the ‘young Indian’. BJP leader Subramanyam Swamy had lodged a complaint in this regard in the year 2013. Swamy had accused Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others of conspiracy to commit fraud and embezzlement of funds and said that Young Indian Private Limited had taken the right to recover Rs 90.25 crore. Paid only Rs 50 lakh, which AJL owed Congress.
