Flood disrupts life in Gujarat

Heavy rain expected in 33 districts of Madhya Pradesh
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in 33 districts including Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh. A red alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra. The Godavari river has crossed the second danger level mark in Telangana. While Delhi-NCR and Madhya Pradesh received rain on Monday, a rain alert has been issued in Rajasthan for the next two days.
9000 people shifted to safe places in Gujarat
Due to heavy rains in Gujarat, power supply has come to a standstill in 174 villages. Navsari and Valsad districts are the worst affected by the floods. NDRF and ADRF teams are reaching the flood affected areas and carrying out relief and rescue work. So far 9000 people have been shifted to safer places. Here, a holiday has been declared in schools and colleges. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Gujarat for the next five days. At present, 13 platoons of NDRF and 16 of SDRF have been deployed. A platoon of NDRF from Vadodara has been sent to Chhota Udaipur for help. 388 roads remained closed due to heavy rains in the state.

Maharashtra: Landslide on Bhimashankar temple road, no casualties
A landslide occurred early on Monday following heavy rains on the famous Bhimashankar temple road in Maharashtra’s Pune district. No one was trapped under the debris and no one was injured, officials said. The Bhimashankar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country, located at a distance of about 100 km from Pune in Khed taluka and more than 200 km from Mumbai.
Public Works Department official Suresh Pathade said that the landslide occurred at Pokhari Ghat at around 3 am. The Ghorgaon-Bhimashankar road was partially blocked due to debris, police said. Ghodegaon police station assistant inspector Jeevan Mane said, “The road was partially blocked due to a landslide, but then the road is open for vehicular movement on one side.” He said the debris was being removed. It has been raining continuously in Pune for the last few days. At the same time, water has entered many temples on the banks of river Godavari in Nashik. According to an official, it has received 68.4 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
