Thieves uprooted a quintal’s safe from a jewelery shop in Haridwar, police engaged in investigation In Nurpur Panjanhedi village of Kankhal area, thieves stole a gold-silver safe by uprooting the shutter of a goldsmith’s shop. The thieves stole a huge safe from the shop and took it to a field some distance away. Calmly broke the safe and fled with the jewellery.
The incident came to light this Saturday morning. The empty safe was recovered from a field some distance away near the shop. The police have started searching for the thieves by scanning the footage of the CCTV cameras.
According to the police, Kamal Verma, originally a resident of Najibabad Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh), has opened a goldsmith’s shop in the name of MK Jewelers in village Nurpur Panjanhedi of Kankhal police station area.
When Mahendra reached to open the shop in the morning, he was shocked to see the shutter uprooted. On reaching inside, the glass of the counter was broken. A huge safe was also found missing from the shop. On information, a police team from Jagjitpur police post reached the spot and gathered information about the incident.
When the police searched the surrounding area to trace the thieves, an empty safe was found in a field at a distance. The vault weighs more than a quintal, so it is believed that two to three thieves may have been involved in the incident.
According to the victim goldsmith Kamal Verma, there was about 10 kg of silver and two to three tola gold in the vault. There is a CCTV installed near the shop, but that too is lying defunct for the last three days.
The police has now started scouting the CCTV cameras installed on the Haridwar-Laksar road. CO City Shekhar Suyal said that the search is on for the thieves.
