It is being told that Kanungo Banwari Lal, the registrar posted in the tehsil, was demanding ₹ 10,000 in lieu of work. After which the victim had lodged a complaint with Vigilance. The team has arrested Registrar Kanungo Banwari Lal while taking bribe in the Tehsil premises itself. At present, the Vigilance team is conducting confidential inquiries in the tehsil premises itself.
CO Vigilance Anil Singh Manral told that Registrar Kanungo Banwari Lal had demanded ₹ 15000 from the complainant in lieu of the registry of the land, after which the victim had already given ₹ 5000 as bribe but registrar Kanungo demanded 10 thousand more bribe. was being done. After which the victim lodged a complaint against registrar Kanungo at the Kumaon Vigilance Office, Haldwani on 3 August. At the same time, the Vigilance, trapping in the whole matter, arrested the Registrar Kanungo while bribing 10 thousand rupees in his office.
