After Chinese military exercise, Taiwan also started live-fire artillery drill

Tensions between China and Taiwan are increasing. After the Chinese military exercise, Taiwan’s army has also started live-fire artillery drill. This drill is being done to protect the island from any possible attack. Taiwan’s Eighth Army Corps spokesman Lu Woi-jae confirmed that the exercises began in southern County Pingtung with target flares and artillery firing.

This drill, started by Taiwan on Tuesday, will continue till Thursday. The army said hundreds of troops would be deployed and about 40 howitzers would be inducted. However, Lu denied that the drill was being done in response to China’s military exercises. He says that this drill was already scheduled.

China’s new military exercise near Taiwan
China’s military said on Monday it was continuing its major military drills around Taiwan, while earlier announcing that live-fire drills would end on Sunday. The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese military said it would practice anti-submarine strikes and maritime raids. Earlier, the Chinese military had conducted live fire exercises near Taiwan’s maritime border, saying it was doing so in protest of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.

China is practicing to attack with drill: Taiwan
Taiwan, on the other hand, alleged that China was practicing to attack the island through this drill. On Monday, Taiwan said that so far no Chinese aircraft and ships have entered its maritime territory during the exercise. During this exercise, Chinese aircraft and ships crossed the midline of the strait several times. Taiwan’s defense ministry said on Monday that the middle line is a tacit agreement that has existed since 1950 and that its existence is a fact.

Dragon sees Taiwan as a separate province
In fact, Beijing sees Taiwan as a separate province that it can control with the military if needed. But Taiwan is a self-controlled island that considers itself separate from China. New activities began around Taiwan after China’s Maritime Authority announced that these exercises would be carried out in other locations as well.
