Uttarakhand: Government will have to submit a detailed report on “recruitment scam” by September 21

The Uttarakhand High Court on Monday asked the state government to submit a detailed report before September 21 on alleged irregularities in the appointments made by the Subordinate Services Selection Commission. The directions were issued by Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra while hearing a PIL filed by Congress MLA from Khatima Bhuvan Chandra Kapri. In the petition, Kapri has prayed for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.
The report asked the state government to explain in detail how irregularities occurred in the recruitment examinations conducted by the selection commission and appointments to the posts. In the last hearing, the court had asked the petitioner to explain why he wanted a CBI probe into the matter, which is already being probed by the Special Task Force (STF).
The court had also sought clarification from Kapri about his right to be heard in his petition. The petition said that the Subordinate Services Selection Commission has made appointments in various departments including education, police, forest and rural development and these should also be probed in the light of scams that surfaced in the recent graduation level examinations. Alleging the involvement of several influential persons from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the petitioner has said that the matter should be probed by the CBI.
