Uproar over controversial speech of BJP MP Parvesh Verma, case registered but organizers

There has been an uproar once again over the controversial statement of BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma. Addressing his supporters at a public event in North-East Delhi’s Dilshad Garden, Verma called for a complete boycott of a particular community. He also got the people standing there to raise slogans. Amidst the rain, he said that he sells vegetables and meat. There is no need to buy stuff from them. We should ask MCD to shut them down if they don’t have licence.
Pointing to the crowd, the BJP MP said that if you want to straighten them out, then the only remedy is complete boycott. Raise your hand if you agree. As soon as the MP said this, all the people present there raised their hands. When The Indian Express spoke to the MP on this matter, he said that I have not named any religious community. What I said was that the families whose members commit such killings should be boycotted. Such families, if they run any restaurant or business, should be boycotted. Many people on Twitter have tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in this regard and opposed the speech of the MP. Some even tweeted in support of the controversial remarks of the BJP leader.
Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi shared a video of the speech. He said that the BJP has started a war against Muslims and the silence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is his green signal.
Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad has asked Delhi Police to take action against the MP. According to PTI, when he spoke to a senior Delhi Police official, the police officer said that the footage of the speech would be examined. So far no complaints have been received. However, a case has been registered against the organizers of the event for holding the rally without permission.
