Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, the founder and director of Drishti IAS Coaching Center (Drishti IAS), who came in the limelight recently for his controversial statement on Mata Sita, is once again in the news. Vikas Divyakirti, famous for teaching the candidates of UPSC Civil Services Examination in his simple, easy and easy style, has started a separate YouTube channel named Up. You can guess the popularity of this channel, which was launched on Constitution Day on 26 November, that within two weeks, more than 1.6 million people have subscribed to this YouTube channel. Vikas Divyakeerti has told in the first video posted on his YouTube channel that despite being a YouTube channel of Drishti IAS, why did he start a separate YouTube channel under his own name? What was the need of it?
In the description of the video, he has written, ‘For a long time there was a desire from all of you friends that I should communicate regularly with you and especially make videos on the subjects of philosophy, psychology and polity, in this context I am sharing this with you. Happy to announce that on the occasion of Constitution Day, I have started my personal YouTube channel ‘Vikas Divyakirti’. In this introductory video, I am sharing the purpose and outline of this channel to give you an exact idea of how this platform can be of use to you!
Told what is the purpose of separate YouTube channel Vikas Divyakirti said that it was necessary to start it due to some reasons. He told that in the last few years short clips of his videos have become quite popular in the online world. Due to this, even those people who have nothing to do with the IAS exam have come to know. He said, ‘Apart from the aspirants preparing for IAS, many such people started contacting him who have nothing to do with IAS but they started saying that we would love to hear from you or would love to hear your views on this subject, someone else. Would like to hear your thoughts on the subject. Many people want some way to listen and talk about philosophy, especially Indian philosophy, psychology and many other topics. Now Drishti IAS has a world of its own, it belongs to the Civil Services examinees. It is for IAS aspirants. Everything is not a part of IAS syllabus then why to discuss everything there. So for those audiences who know or don’t know about IS preparations, I would like to create my own corner in the world of social media where I can speak my mind. I can put my thoughts on this channel without considering IAS syllabus. Here I can also talk about those issues which I often avoid talking about while teaching. While teaching, I tell them only as much as is necessary for their examination. But here I can speak my mind.
He said, ‘On this channel, I will be neutral and keep my point on various issues so that we all get a chance to discuss. If necessary, I will also bring other people on this channel who can talk about both the sides.
He said, ‘ Here I can put my point in authentic form. I should not fear that things are destroyed, doctored or manufactured. Whatever I will talk on this channel will be my authentic opinion on any matter. If someone cuts a clip and shows it to you in class, do not trust it, I will be fully responsible for what I say on this channel.
He said that on this channel the deep things of philosophy, psychology, literature will be explained to the people in simple and easy language.
