Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani honours four Railways DRM of Gujarat region for transporting 14.56 lakh stranded labourers to their native states

Gujarat: Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today honoured four regional managers of the Indian Railways by conferring them with citation certifications for their excellent works in arranging the travels of more than 14.56 lakh labourers to their native states from Gujarat.
These labourers had arrived in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and others of Gujarat for employment but were stranded here due to spreading of Coronavirus pandemic.
These labourers were transported through running of as many as 999 Special Shramik Trains from different areas of Gujarat to various states of India. Of them, 558 trains were sent to Uttar Pradesh, 223 to Bihar, 91 to Odisha and other states. In total, approximately 1456,000 labourers were transported in one month’s span with maintaining norms of social distancing and providing other necessary facilities.
The honoured four DRM of the Western Railways are Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha (Ahmedabad Division), Mr. Parmeshwar Funkwal (Rajkot), Mr. Pratik Goswami (Bhavnagar), and Mr. Devendra Kumar (Vadodara).
The occasion was also graced by Mr. Vipul Mitra, Additional Chief Secretary (Labour and Employment) and Coordinator of Special Shramik Trains for Labourers of other states, and others.
