Una : Agriculture Minister Virendra Kanwar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing the eighth installment under the Kisan Samman Nidhi for the farmers of Himachal Pradesh. He said that with the eighth installment, more than 9 lakh farmers of Himachal Pradesh will get a benefit of Rs 183.24 crore. This money is being transferred directly to their accounts. Under this scheme, three installments of 2-2 thousand rupees are added to the account of farmers every year. In this way, a total of 6000 rupees are given to the farmers by the central government, so that they can meet their agricultural expenses with this amount.

Virendra Kanwar said that the Modi government is constantly striving for the empowerment of farmers. The central government has set a target of doubling the income of farmers by the year 2022 and many steps have been taken in this direction. Farmers are being encouraged to diversify farming. He said that the Modi government has given the slogan of self-reliant India and an economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore has been announced for this. This amount will be spent on strengthening the infrastructure.

The Agriculture Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the State Government is also making efforts to protect the interests of farmers. The Chief Minister has set a target of adding 50 thousand new farmers to natural farming in the budget 2020-21. Natural farming is a positive step to lead the farmers towards prosperity, in which all farmers should go ahead and take advantage. He said that the Jika-2 project, which is going to start from Rs. 1055 crore, will be implemented in the entire state, which will benefit the farmers. Kanwar said that Rs 200 crore has also been kept in the budget for expansion of mandis. He said that farmers should move towards empowerment by taking advantage of Central and State Government schemes.
