West Bengal / Kolkata : 4 TMC leaders arrested in Narada case, CM Mamata Banerjee arrives at CBI office
CBI has arrested Firhad Hakim, Shobhan Chatterjee, Subrata Mukherjee and MLA Madan Mitra in the Narada tape scam case. Recently, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had approved the case of Narda scam against top TMC leaders including Firhad Hakim. The CBI will file a chargesheet in the case today. The four leaders are close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Amidst all this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also reached the CBI office. CBI officials are questioning Mamta’s ministers and MLA. According to the information, the CBI team went to the house of these leaders on Monday morning. CBI was accompanied by Central Force personnel and these people have been brought to the Nizam Palace by CBI officials. The Governor’s permission was required to take action against them and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has already given permission for this. Therefore, the permission of the Speaker is not required.
Sources say that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told the CBI officials that if you are arresting these four leaders, then I also have to arrest them, they cannot arrest these four leaders without the notice of the state government or the court, If you still arrest me, then I should also be arrested. Meanwhile, TMC MP and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee has also reached the CBI office. He said that we will fight a legal battle.
What is narda sting
The Narada sting is a 2014 case. A journalist from Delhi reached Kolkata and described himself as a businessman. He had allegedly given cash money in the name of investment to seven TMC MPs, four ministers, one MLA and a police officer. The journalist had made a sting of this entire incident. The sting was revealed before the 2016 assembly elections.
