Himachal Pradesh / Shimla : Chief Minister launches vaccination campaign for the age group of 18 to 44 years
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated a vaccination campaign for people between the age group of 18 to 44 in Chhota Shimla, Kasumpati, Government Senior Secondary School here today to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic in the state.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that 213 vaccination centers have been set up in the state for immunization of people of this age group. He urged people to register themselves and book their appointment. He asked the people to come to the vaccination centers as per their appointment to avoid unnecessary crowds at the vaccination centers. He said that till now 21090 people have booked their timetable. He also called upon the people to follow the favorable behavior in the vaccination centers. He said that the next date of vaccination for people between the age group of 18 to 44 has been set as May 20, 2021, for which information of the CoWin portal session will be made available on May 18, 2021. He said that other sessions of vaccination for this age group would be held on May 24, 27 and May 31, 2021.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in the country by vaccinating 31 percent of the population. He said that so far 2150353 doses of vaccine have been given to people in the state. He said that on January 16, 2021 for health care workers in the state, February 2, 2021 for leading line workers, 1 for people suffering from serious illness in the age group above 60 and in the age group of 45-60 years. Vaccination campaign was started on March 1, 2021 and for people above 45 years of age on April 1, 2021. He said that more people are coming forward for vaccination for prevention of COVID-10 epidemic, which is a matter of satisfaction for all of us.
The Chief Minister said that 386 cold chain points have been established in the state, including State Vaccine Store-1 and Regional Vaccine Store-2, through which these vaccines are being distributed. He said that these cold chain points are being monitored on the basis of Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (EVIN).
Jai Ram Thakur urged people to wear face masks and follow social distance, in addition to following standard operating procedures and guidelines issued by the state government from time to time to deal with the corona epidemic.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Satya Kaundal, Health Secretary Amitabh Awasthi, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
