Uttarakhand Health Minister Subodh Uniyal expressed deep displeasure over poor sanitation and administrative disarray during a surprise inspection of the Haridwar District Hospital. During the inspection, the Minister’s temper flared to such an extent that he severely reprimanded the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Dr. R.V. Singh.

The Health Minister had arrived in Haridwar on Monday to attend a private event. While there, he conducted an unannounced inspection of the District Hospital. The Minister’s sudden arrival at the hospital caused a stir among the doctors, staff nurses, and other employees.

During the inspection, the Minister became irate upon observing the condition of the hospital premises, restrooms, and other facilities. He confronted the CMS, asking, “What is the state of your restrooms? What is the difficulty in maintaining cleanliness? This looks less like a hospital and more like a garbage dump.”

The Minister issued immediate directives to officials to rectify the deficiencies observed in the hospital regarding sanitation, maintenance, and patient amenities. Issuing a stern warning, he stated that negligence in either government or private hospitals would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Health Minister affirmed that providing better facilities to patients is a top priority for the government and that regular monitoring of hospitals would be ensured.

It is noteworthy that, in recent days, Health Minister Subodh Uniyal has been consistently conducting surprise inspections of hospitals and issuing strict instructions to officials whenever instances of negligence in management are discovered.
