Mamta asked the officials to be vigilant with Cyclone Yash
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked senior government officials and the district administration to make all necessary arrangements to deal with the cyclonic storm Yas between 23 and 26 May. The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted that Super Cyclone Yash is expected to knock in the Sundarbans region of the state between May 23 and May 26 and possibly move towards Bangladesh.
Presiding over a virtual meeting of state and district administrative officials, Mamata asked him to arrange for adequate stocks of medicines, drinking water, dry food and tarpaulins.
He also asked them to ensure that sufficient force is deployed in the area on behalf of both the state disaster management team and the police.
“All the cyclone centers and shelters have been asked to be prepared,” an official said. District collectors have been instructed to take all precautionary measures in view of the warning. The district administration has been asked to caution fishermen not to venture into the sea.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is taking all precautionary measures to deal with the cyclone YASH.
