Lunar eclipse 2021: Amazing sight will be seen on 26th May, this time will see lunar eclipse and super blood moon
May 26 will be a special day for the astronomers. People will be able to watch both lunar eclipses and super moon astronomical events simultaneously. On Wednesday, the moon will be seen in red color instead of white. The moon, which is seven per cent larger and 30 per cent more illuminated, will be called Super Blood Moon.
The beginning of the lunar eclipse in Yoganagiri will start from 2:17 in the afternoon to 7:19 in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the incident of Super Blood Moon can be watched for 35 minutes at 6:49 pm. However, Super Moon will be seen partially from India.
Senior scientist of the Aryabhata Observational Science Research Institute (Aries) Nainital, Dr. Shashibhushan Pandey said that people will be able to see full lunar eclipse in countries like West-South America, Australia and South-East Asia, but in India only the eclipse lunar eclipse will be seen.
He informed that the last super blood moon and lunar eclipse incident took place on 21 January 2019. The next time this incident will happen on 16 May 2022. Dr. Pandey said that due to the shadow of the Earth at the time of lunar eclipse, the Moon appears black from the Earth. He told that during this time the moon will also appear red for a few seconds. This happens when the sunlight changes to the moon.
According to the law of reflection, the color of which a ray of light reaches our eyes, we see an object of the same color. The longest wavelength is red.
This wavelength first reaches the moon, so we see the moon red. Dr. Shashibhushan Pandey told that during this period, the moon looks bigger than other days due to its proximity to the Earth.
Explain that the distance of the Earth from the Moon is considered to be 384400 kilometers and this distance is considered to be about 405696 kilometers when the Moon is the most distant from the Earth. This condition is called Apogee. In contrast, the position of the moon being closest to the earth is called perigee.
In this, the distance between Earth and Moon is about 357000 km. If a full moon falls in the perigee position of the moon, a supermoon is visible. There are minimum 12 full moon days in a year. Sometimes there are 13 full moon days, but it is rare that the full moon is also in the position of perigee.
