National level wrestler arrested on charges of robbery
Former national level gold medalist wrestler Manjeet has been arrested on charges of robbery and sale of illicit liquor. Delhi Police informed about this.
Dwarka DCP Santosh Kumar Meena said that the special staff arrested Manjeet, an active member of the Kaushal gang, from Najafgarh area on May 24. Pistol, live cartridges and stolen mobile phones were recovered from him.
A case has been registered against Manjeet under various sections of the Arms Act.
The DCP reported that Manjeet started wrestling from school days and in 2010 he won a gold medal in the 55 kg weight category of the Junior National Wrestling Event. However, after this he went into wrong association and got involved in the crime.
The DCP said, Manjeet along with his assistants had stolen a car from Haryana in 2012 and he was first arrested in 2013. He was then caught in 2019.
Meena told that Manjit came into contact with Kaushal Gang in Bhondsi Jail and became a part of it. After being released from jail in February 2021, Manjeet started selling illicit liquor from Haryana to Delhi.
