The state government is committed to doubling the income of farmers by the year 2022. To fulfill this objective, while Krishi Mitra schemes are being implemented, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has ensured that farmers get adequate irrigation facilities and get better prices for their produce.
The fruit and vegetable market of the State Agricultural Marketing Committee (APMC) located at Solan is fulfilling this thought of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. APMC Solan is identified in Himachal as well as all over the country. This is the first mandi of Himachal which was selected under e-Rashtriya Krishi Bazar (e-Naam). After linking with e-NAM, APMC Solan has proved to be a boon for the entire region. Along with the farmers of Solan district, this mandi is playing a major role in ending the concerns of farmers and gardeners of Shimla, Sirmaur, Kinnaur.
APMC Solan is assuring farmers that they do not need to panic even in the current crisis.
In the crisis time of Kovid-19, since last year, APMC Solan is proving to help farmers in getting the best price for their produce. Last year, online trade of various cash crops including peas became a relief for the farmers of the entire region. Online trading of more than Rs 60 crores was done by APMC Solan during the Kovid-19 transition period last year. Farmers and gardeners were paid directly in their accounts. Through this, farmers and gardeners, who are making significant contribution to the economy of the country and the state, received good prices for their crops.
APMC Solan is committed to the upliftment of farmers even in the present crisis. APMC Solan is currently procuring garlic from farmers in Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Mandi and Sirmaur districts. So far more than 3500 quintals of Lahusan have been traded. In lieu of this, Rs 02 crore 45 lakh has been paid to the farmers. Every effort is being made to pay the farmers online.

Giving more information in this regard, Dr. APMC Solan Secretary Dr. Ravindra Sharma said that till now garlic was being sent to Tamil Nadu from APMC Solan. But due to corona infection, now garlic is being sent from here to Puducherry.
