Trial of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin in Patna AIIMS
The trial of corona vaccine on children has started in the country. Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin was given to three children at AIIMS Patna today. Here three children aged 2 to 18 years were given the corona vaccine. On May 11, permission was given by the Drugs Controller General of India for clinical trials of Covaxin in children. No one was pressurized to test the vaccine on children, people are voluntarily bringing children with them. At present all three children are healthy. AIIMS has been given a target of trials on a total of 80 children. Patna AIIMS COVID in-charge Dr Sanjeev Kumar said that this test has started on children between the age of 12 to 18 years. On the first day of the trial on children of Covaxin, three children were given the first dose of the vaccine. All three are in the age group of 12 to 18 years and are residents of Patna. All three are healthy. No side effects have been observed on anyone. The hospital has given a diary to the parents of the three children and asked them to monitor their health. If children face any problem during this time, they have been asked to contact Patna AIIMS immediately.
Clinical trial of Covaxin vaccine is going on in AIIMS on children. Registration has started from 28th May. 108 children have registered voluntarily. Out of this, clinical trials were conducted on 15 children and only three were found worthy of trial.
These three children will be given the second dose of Covaccine after a gap of 28 days. Children will be thoroughly screened for any side effects of the vaccine once their vaccination is complete. Patna AIIMS has divided the children into three groups for the trial on the basis of their age. These three age groups are 2-5 years, 6-12 years and 12-18 years.
