Chhetri’s two goals helped India beat Bangladesh 2-0.
Magical striker Sunil Chhetri scored two brilliant goals in the final minutes as India thrashed Bangladesh 2-0 in the preliminary combined qualification rounds of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Asia Cup China 2023 on Monday. After winning this match played at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Doha, India now have six points from seven matches while Bangladesh have two points from seven matches. India has to play its last group match against Afghanistan on 15 June.
After a goalless first half, there was no goal in the second half for 77 minutes but Chhetri broke the deadlock in the 78th minute by scoring India’s first goal in the 78th minute off Ashiq Kurunian’s cross. Chhetri gave India a 2-0 win with a shot from a long distance in the second minute of injury time.
