Volcano erupts in Indonesia, lava erupts from Mount Merapi
Lava erupted from Mount Merapi, Indonesia’s most active volcano. The first eruption of hot lava occurred (local time) at 3.16 a.m., with incandescent lava blowing 1,500 meters to the south-west for 129 seconds.
The volcano, located on border between Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces, is now at the third danger level.
The center has urged people not to go into the danger zone within three km of the crater to avoid the emission of volcanic material.
People were also asked to avoid lava flows and hot lavas flowing from Merapi rivers such as Kuning, Boyong, Bedog, Krasak, Bebang and Putih rivers.
