Copa America football tournament 2021 begins with Brazil’s big win over Venezuela
The Copa America football tournament 2021 got off to a great start with Brazil’s landslide victory over Venezuela. In this tournament opener played in Bresilia, Brazil won 3–0 against Venezuela and took the lead in Group B of the Copa America tournament.
Brazil will now take on Peru on June 17, while Venezuela will face Colombia. It is noteworthy that the Copa America football tournament was earlier to be held in Argentina and Colombia, but was postponed last year due to the Corona epidemic. The South American Football Confederation denied Colombia the privilege of hosting the competition due to nationwide protests. Later Argentina was also dropped from the host list due to the serious situation of the Corona epidemic across the country.
Earlier in June, several groups urged to stop the competition in Brazil in view of the Corona risks. However, Brazil’s Supreme Court has ruled that despite the Corona epidemic, the 2021 Copa America football tournament in Brazil will be held as planned on Sunday and it has happened. Brazil defeated Venezuela 3-0 in the tournament opener match.
The tournament will be played in Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Mato Grosso and the Federal District of Brazil, with the final on July 10 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
