Bangladesh wishes to host Champions Trophy in 2025

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan said that they are keen to host the Champions Trophy in 2025 provided they have the necessary infrastructure. During the 10th meeting of the Board of Directors, it was decided that they would participate in the host selection process for the ICC Men’s Events (2024–2031) and to take this process forward, a Management Team has also been formed, headed by the BCB President. CEO has been made. BCB directors Mohammad Jalal Yunus and Ahmed Sajjadul Alam will oversee the process.

Hassan said, there are many issues. We will need 10 fully equipped stadiums. It will be the same for everyone who is interested in hosting the event. So it is not possible for us because we don’t have that many stadiums. Hosting the T20 World Cup will also be a big challenge for us but we will sit and discuss with our neighboring countries whether we can co-host.

He also said, “Yes, it is possible for us to host the Champions Trophy in 2025. We have decided to host the Champions Trophy alone.

Najmul also confirmed that he has decided to hold the BCB’s AGM in Dhaka on July 7, 2021 as it was the top agenda during the 10th board meeting. Najmul’s second term is to end in September this year and according to the constitution, the board should make arrangements for elections within the next 45 days.

He said that the contract list of the players is almost ready but he cannot reveal it yet as there may be some changes at the last minute. The BCB has extended the tenure of the national selectors panel till the next T20 World Cup, though the tenure of the current panel ended in June.
