Himachal Pradesh : Orapi gets life imprisonment in rape and murder case of minor girl
A special court in Shimla sentenced Anil Kumar alias Neelu to life imprisonment till the end of his natural life in a rape case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Anil for the rape and murder of a minor in Himachal Pradesh’s Kotkhai area in 2017.
According to information received from the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Special Judge (POCSO) sentenced Kumar to life imprisonment for the rest of her natural life and a fine of Rs 10,000 in a case related to the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kotkhai. .
The CBI had registered the case on
July 22, 2017 on the orders of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on July 19, 2017.
Earlier, a case of rape and murder was registered in Kotkhai police station of Shimla district for the rape and murder of a minor girl in Halila forest. The local police have arrested six people in this case. The matter was being monitored all the time, which was also being monitored by the court. During investigation, it was found that Kumar, accused of raping and killing the victim, was a paralyzed profession.
The matter was very challenging, in which the sentiments of the people were also involved. There was no eyewitness in this case. The crime was committed in such a dense forest, where there was no person. The accused did not belong to the area of the crime scene and frequently changed his whereabouts after the said crime. The involvement of the accused in the crime was established through DNA profiling, along with other evidence.
The CBI after a thorough investigation filed a charge sheet against the accused Kumar in the court of Special Judge (POCSO), Shimla.
The CBI investigation also revealed that the 6 accused arrested earlier by the state police were not involved in the crime.
After considering all oral, documentary, scientific, medical and circumstantial evidence, the trial court found Kumar guilty and was convicted on April 28 this year. Anger had erupted in different sections of the society over this case of rape and murder of a minor girl.
