Tamim and Shakib decide to be out of DPL

Dhaka, 19 June. Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan will miss the next leg of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). While Tamim decides to go for rehabilitation due to his knee injury, Shakib is on his way to the US to be with his family.

Tamim, who represents Prime Bank Cricket Club in the league, said he was pulling out of the DPL for rehabilitation as he wanted to be fully fit before the tour of Zimbabwe for one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. Huh. Tamim said in a statement, “For the last few matches, I have been suffering a lot in my legs. I was struggling a lot especially while fielding and running between the wickets. I have consulted the doctors and the medical staff of BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) and their advice is that it would be better for me not to continue playing at this time. I need proper rest and some time to rehabilitate because there is international cricket and Zimbabwe series ahead and it is definitely important. I have to be much better than my position to play international matches.

On the other hand, Mohammedan Sporting Club’s Shakib Al Hasan, who played one match after returning to the DPL after serving a three-match ban following his grumpy attitude towards the umpires, will not be available for the second leg of the tournament as he is with his family in the US today. And it is expected that he will join the national team in Zimbabwe directly from America. Confirming this on Thursday, a BCB official said that he was leaving for the US on a Qatar Airways flight at 4.30 am today.
