Partial relaxation of lockdown restrictions in 16 districts of Karnataka

The Karnataka government announced partial relaxation in the lockdown restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 in 16 districts from June 21 to July 5 in view of the infection rate being less than five per cent.

However, the statewide night curfew will continue from 7 pm to 5 am every day and the weekend curfew from 7 pm on Friday to 5 pm on Monday will be in effect till July 5.

Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa announced this after a meeting with his cabinet colleagues, bureaucrats and health experts, which was held at his official residence Krishna here.
Yediyurappa said the partial relaxation would be applicable only to those districts where the case positivity rate has come down to below five per cent.

He said, there is a partial relaxation of two weeks such as opening of shops till 5 pm in 16 districts like Bengaluru, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Mandya, Koppal, Chikkaballapur, Tumkur, Kolar, Gadag, Raichur, Bagalkot, Kalaburgi, Haveri, Ramnagar, Yadgir and Bidar. Where the infection rate has come down to below five percent.
He said that educational institutions, religious places, shopping malls, theatres, pubs and amusement parks are still not allowed to open.

Appealing to the residents of the state to strictly follow the COVID safety protocol, he said that the partial relaxation includes opening of shops and hotels till 5 pm.
