Should have been a fast bowler all-rounder in India’s playing XI: Mishra

Veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra feels that the Indian team should have had a fast bowler all-rounder in the playing XI of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand. On Friday, the first day of the WTC final at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England, the toss was not even possible due to rain and the whole day’s play was dusted.

Mishra said, “The playing XI is very good. We have two great spins in Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who can contribute with the bat as well. The batting of these two will help India a lot. I think there should have been a fast bowler all-rounder in India’s playing XI who could bowl six-seven overs after the regular pacers got tired.

Mishra, who has taken 76 wickets in 22 Test matches for India, said, I think it would have been better if India had included a fast bowling all-rounder. There is a fast bowling all-rounder in the New Zealand team, so that is the only advantage that the Kiwis have.
The leg-spinner said that India’s batting is stronger than its bowling.
He said, I think India’s batting line-up is stronger than the bowling. Talking about all-rounders, we bat very deep. Only three fast bowlers do not bat. So I think the batting is strong.
