Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, who were killed in a fierce encounter with police and security forces on Monday at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, have been identified. Police said that during the intervening night of June 20/21, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the Police, CRPF and Army, acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Gundibrath area of ​​Sopore by Sopore Police .

Police said, as soon as the presence of terrorists was detected, they were given an opportunity to surrender. However, they fired indiscriminately at the joint search party, which in retaliation led to an encounter. An army jawan was injured in the two-pronged exchange of fire.

In the next encounter, three terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, were killed and their bodies were recovered from the encounter site, police said.

The slain terrorists have been identified as Mudasir Ahmed Pandit alias Mudasir of Dungarpora Sopore, Khurshid Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan and Pakistani terrorist Abdullah alias Asrar.

Police said all the slain terrorists were affiliated to the banned terror outfit Lashkar, while Mudasir Pandit was the commander of Lashkar for North Kashmir.

According to records, all the terrorists killed were part of a group involved in various terror crimes, and several cases were registered against them, including the March 29 attack on the municipal office in Sopore, which killed two councilors and a policeman. Had gone.
They were also involved in the attack on a police party at Main Chowk in Sopore on June 12, in which two policemen and two civilians were killed and two other policemen and two civilians were injured.
