NIA arrests 2 KLF members in Sandhu murder case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a major breakthrough in the murder of Shaurya Chakra awardee Com. Balwinder Singh Sandhu. The agency said it has arrested two absconding activists of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), who played a key role in Sandhu’s murder. The Anti-Terrorism Investigation Agency arrested Harbinder Singh alias Pindar and Navpreet Singh alias Nav, residents of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, the NIA said here.

He was produced before a special NIA court in Mohali, which has sent him to four-day NIA custody.

The officer said that during investigation it was revealed that Navpreet and Harbhinder are close associates of charge-sheeted accused Inderjit Singh alias Inder, who had conducted a reconnaissance of Sandhu and were actively involved in the conspiracy to kill him.
Sandhu was murdered outside his residence-cum-school on October 16 last year. The Punjab Police had registered a case.

The NIA had registered the case on January 1 this year. The NIA has filed a charge sheet against eight accused in the first case.
