Uttarakhand / Dehradun : The cleaning workers surrounded the executive engineer

On Thursday, All India Safai Mazdoor Sangh gheraoed the executive engineer of the maintenance district unit Dakpathar, regarding the problems of the sanitation workers working in Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam and Irrigation Department. Safai Karamcharis informed that despite working under government departments, they are being discriminated against and deprived of essential facilities. The employees told that they are not being paid honorarium as per labor laws. Despite many residential buildings being vacant in the project area, government buildings are not being allotted to them. State President of Safai Karamcharis Association Anupama Tank said that during the COVID period, incentive allowance should be given to the cleaning workers. Along with this, arrangements should be made to recruit contractual government employees in government departments through sub-panels. The facility of EPF, ESI, Bonus, EL, CL is also not being given to the sanitation workers working on contractual practice in Jal Vidyut Nigam. Necessary equipments are not being provided to the sanitation workers during the work, due to which there is a danger of the workers suffering from serious diseases. He said that free health camps should be organized twice a month for the families of the sanitation workers. The employees have demanded speedy action on all the demands. Said that despite working in government departments, there has been discrimination against the sanitation workers, due to which they are being exploited financially and mentally. Gopal Valmiki, Sonu Ram, Mahendra Kumar, Amit, Rakesh, Babli, Poonam, Rakhi, Kamlesh, Rajesh, Dayalu etc. were included in the gherao.
