People will always remember the players who scored runs in Tests: Sourav Ganguly

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has said that people will always remember the players who scored runs in Test cricket. Lasourav shared his thoughts on Star Sports about the importance of Test being the main format of cricket, saying, “Test cricket was the best cricket format when we started playing cricket in our childhood and I think it is still the main format. format, hence it is called Test cricket. I think if a player wants to be successful and make a mark on the game then Test cricket is the biggest platform he can get. People will always remember those players who play well and score runs in Test matches. If you look at all the biggest names in cricket, they all have successful Test records in the last 40-50 years.

The BCCI President shared anecdotes from his Test debut at Lord’s to mark the anniversary of his Test debut. “Not many people get to play their first Test at Lord’s but I made my debut at Lord’s. I remember that time I was fielding in point’s area. Lord’s used to be a packed stadium and it has always been a pleasant run-scoring ground for me, every time I have gone back since my debut. I was surprised to walk down the long room on the first day and luckily we fielded. Otherwise I had to bat at number three as a batsman. I scored my Test century on Saturday, which is probably the best day of my Test cricket career. At that time every seat in the stadium was full.

Sourav said, this was my Test debut and I had to reach 100. Nothing could be better than this and the mindset of that Test match was remarkable. I got fans cheering for every single shot I hit on the back-stands and then finishing on 100 at tea time was very special. I remember during tea I was batting at 100 and I was more mentally exhausted than physically because the emotions, the joy, the heights of the first century make you tired too.
