Reliance Retail to create 10 lakh jobs

Reliance Retail will create 1 million new jobs in three years. Along with this, indirect livelihood opportunities will also be created for lakhs of people. This was announced by Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 44th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries. Reliance Retail continues to perform well during the COVID pandemic. The company has not only increased its number of stores by 1500 stores, but in the midst of the pandemic, the company has given 65 thousand new jobs. Reliance Retail is one of the largest employers in the country with a man power of 2 lakh employees.

The company has 12,711 stores in more than 7 thousand small and big cities. Today one in eight Indians is shopping at Reliance Retail. Reliance Retail is 6 times bigger than its nearest rival. Mr Ambani said that our apparel business has sold around five lakh units per day and over 18 crore garments units during the year. This is equivalent to dressing the entire population of Britain, Germany and Spain at once. We are committed to be among the top 10 retailers of the world class. I am confident that Reliance Retail is on its way to grow at least 3x in the next 3 to 5 years

E-commerce platform Jiomart has also spread its business in 200 cities. The company is getting up to 6.5 lakh orders in a day. 80 percent of people buy once on Jiomart and buy again, this is a good sign for the e-commerce company. Reliance Retail is engaged in creating an ecosystem of small traders, kirana owners through Jio Mart. In the last one year, around 3 lakh shopkeepers from 150 cities are associated with Jiomart. The company plans to network 10 million small merchants and kirana stores in the next three years.

Addressing the shareholders, Mr. Ambani informed that Reliance Retail is focusing on research, design and development of product capabilities. An ecosystem is also being created for material sourcing. The supply chain infrastructure and the number of stores will also be increased this year.
