According to the information, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has removed the name of the fake IAS, who was involved in laying the foundation stone of Rabindranath Tagore’s statue late last evening. On this foundation stone, the name of fake IAS Debjan Deb was written along with MP Sudip Bandopadhyay, MLA Nanay Bandopadhyay and KMC administrator Firhad Hakim. The stone was hurriedly removed on Friday night by Jrushta after a TMC leader’s relationship with Debjan Deb came into the limelight. Earlier, Kolkata Police had also arrested three of Debjan’s associates Sushant Das, Robin Sikdar and Shantanu Manna.

Debjan Deb and three of his associates are accused of duping different people to the tune of Rs 1 crore in the name of getting government contracts. Three more new cases have been registered against these people at Kasba police station in Kolkata. According to the information received from the police, they were working like a gang. He got 1 from a private company. 2 lakh rupees were taken, in return for which 172 people were given fake vaccination. Apart from this, 90 lakh rupees were taken from a contractor and in return he had promised to get him a contract to build the stadium. Together, all these people had taken 4 lakh rupees in the name of getting a government contract from a pharma company.
According to the Kolkata Police, the arrested fake IAS officer Debjan Deb was duping people for the past four months by pretending to be a joint commissioner in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Deb also told his family that he has become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. According to the information received, 28-year-old Deb came in contact with several police officers and politicians while participating in social events.

Police said Deb was preparing for the Union Public Service Commission exam and in the year 2018 told his father and relatives that he had cleared the exam and became an IAS officer. The police allegedly arrested Deb. He was arrested for posing as an IAS officer and organizing a Kovid-19 vaccination camp in the Kasba area. Actress and Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty was also vaccinated in this camp.
