US airstrikes in eastern Syria

The US launched an airstrike late on Sunday night at the bases of Iran-backed groups in Syria’s eastern province of Deir ez-Zor. US military fighter jets have struck targets of Iranian-backed groups Kataib Hezbollah (KH) and Kataib Sayyed al-Shuhada (KSS) along the Syria-Iraq border.

This action has been taken in response to the drone attack on American citizens and their residential areas in Iraq. A child was also killed and three people were seriously injured in the airstrike. Syrian officials reiterated that the US action violates their country’s sovereignty and international law and is aimed at expanding its access to the oil fields.
