NIA to probe attack on Jammu Air Force Station

Suspicious drone seen again for the third time in two days

Army personnel have once again spotted a drone near the military station in Ratnuchak-Kunjwani on the outskirts of Jammu late night. The drone has been seen near the army station last night. “The flying object was spotted thrice in Ratnuchak and Kunjwani areas near Army Brigade,” he said. The first drone was sighted at Ratnuchak at around 01.08 hrs, then again near Kunjwani at 03.09 and the third time near the same location at 04.19 hrs. Sources said that after this the security forces have cordoned off the area.

Earlier, two suspicious drones were seen flying near the military station on the Kaluchak-Purmandal road after which the Army personnel fired a few rounds at them and they blew away. The alertness and action of the soldiers thwarted a major threat. Two Air Force personnel were injured and a part of a building was damaged when a suspected drone dropped two bombs at the Jammu Air Force Station.

At the same time, the Central Government has now handed over the investigation of the attack on the Jammu Air Force Station to the NIA. The Home Ministry has decided to hand over the investigation of the attack to the National Investigation Agency. Meanwhile, the Special Bomb Disposal Squad of the National Security Guard (NSG) has reached the Jammu Air Force Station and is investigating the explosives.
