Death toll in Philippines plane crash rises to 50
The death toll in a military plane crash in the Philippines has risen to 50 and 49 others are injured.
Major General Edgard Arevalo said authorities had recovered the bodies of the remaining five missing soldiers, raising the death toll in the plane crash to 50. Among the dead are 47 jawans and three civilians. He said that 49 jawans and four civilians were also injured in the plane crash. Earlier it was reported that 45 jawans have died in the accident and 42 others have survived.
More than 80 people were on board the Philippines Army C-130 Hercules plane. The plane crashed while landing on the runway.
