Sri Lanka Cricket banned Bhanuka Rajapaksa for one year

Sri Lanka Cricket has banned top-order batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa from playing all forms of cricket for one year after being found guilty of breach of player contract. He has also been fined five thousand USD.

The investigation found Rajapaksa guilty of breaching the obligations of the Sri Lankan national player contract for 2019-20 by appearing in media interviews, although Rajapaksa is currently training in Colombo under a bio-bubble in view of future tours. Has been selected in the 13-member team. Rajapaksa has qualified after passing a fitness test, one of the prerequisites for national selection, and is expected to appear in the bio-bubble tomorrow. It is noteworthy that Rajapaksa, who played seven T20 matches for Sri Lanka, last played against India in Indore in 2020.
