Uttarakhand / Bageshwar : Villagers start a gradual fast for the road

Villagers have strongly objected to non-starting of non-sakida motor road even after four years. Angry villagers have started a gradual fast in the Collectorate for the road. In the meeting held here, the speakers said that the agitation would be intensified if their demands were sidelined. According to the pre-determined schedule, the villagers reached the collectorate on Monday. A procession was taken out here with loud slogans and later started a gradual fast. Villagers told that three km motorway was approved from Khankar to Gair Sakida. The sarpanch of Khankar had also given a no-objection certificate to the village’s forest panchayat to build a road. On the basis of this letter, a departmental, geological survey of the road was conducted and the forest department also printed the felled trees. After the completion of all the formalities, some villagers have started opposing the transfer of Van Panchayat land to PWD. Due to which the construction of the approved road is not being started. The villagers demanded early resolution of the problems being faced in the construction of the road.
